Course shortened after complaint
20 Nov 2006KOTA BARU: About 1,000 science and mathematics teachers in the state have been instructed to attend courses to improve their English during the third-term holidays.
However, the teachers, who are members of the National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP), are unhappy with the directive as they claimed their holidays would be affected.
While it supported the move, NUTP president Ismail Nihat said the course should not have been held during the school holidays.
Following the complaint, a decision was made to shorten the course to two weeks.
